Chosen Brief: Option 3 Music Video Promotion

Hello, my name is Antonia Benitez, and welcome to my blog! Here I will be working on my A Level Media Studies Advanced portfolio. For my coursework, I’ll be creating a music video for the song “She's not gone yet but she's leaving” by The Fratellis. Along with that I'll be creating a social media page, representing the band and a digipak for the band's release. Together, these pieces will form a cohesive promotional campaign that reflects the mood, style, and narrative of the song.

In this blog, I’ll document my process: from research and planning to filming and editing.   My goal is to create a project that captures a deep sense of nostalgia. “She's not gone yet but she's leaving"  feels like a song about growing up, and change, and I want to bring that feeling to life visually. The video will use cinematography, mise-en-scène, and editing techniques to communicate the bittersweet mix of memories and emotions often associated with teenage or young adult experiences. This personal connection is important to me, as I am entering my final year of high school and anticipating significant life changes. The project is mainly aimed at teenagers and young adults (around 16–22 years old) who connect with indie or alternative music. They tend to enjoy content that explores emotions like self discovery, which are key themes I want to highlight in this project.

Here is a mood-board of some creative shots on Pinterest, focusing on lighting, composition, and framing that reflect the nostalgic and reflective tone of the song. This will guide my planning for camera work, colour palette, and visual style, while allowing me to experiment with techniques that resonate with my target audience:  https://pin.it/5eSVUKPNL .
