Storyboard Planning for a Music Video
I decided to have a storyboard to gather my ideas for the first few frames of the music video, in order to have a more organized plan. I'm planning on making my friend be the main character and I want it to set mostly in night.
Frame 2: The second frame uses a medium shot of the main character sat at the cafe where I'm planning to shoot the first few scenes. The camera will be moving around her in this frame from left to right. I will have the title of the song appear here, along with other credits like "Starring Sara Oancea", etc. I want the credits to appear as soon as possible so it doesn't distract the audience in the later scenes.
Frame 3: The third frame is a shot where the protagonist is the centered in the middle and she's facing sideways and gets a text from her phone where the camera zooms fast on her expression. This shot will draw attention to something important in the narrative and acts as a plot trigger.
Frame 4: In this shot after all the credits have appeared, I'm planning on making the character look bored by yawning and the action will be done in slow-motion.
Frame 5: In this shot, she will be in the bathroom of the cafe, looking at the mirror, with the camera behind her, while she's conflicted with herself. I was inspired from before looking into Fiona Apple's "Criminal" music video where she breaks the 4th wall and looks into the camera. I'm planning on later for the character to look in the mirror and then turn around and make contact with the audience. I will re-use this shot later in the music video as it's important for her character development. I also want the camera to have vignette effect so it looks like it's sort of a memory.
Other Shots To Use Potentially:
Other shots will shows more of the location using a fast-moving shot or montage-style movement to suggest time passing and the busy world around her. There could be a random girl/boy reading a newspaper and then suddenly stopping. This contrast highlights her feeling disconnected from her surroundings.
